Masters: First Day

I think this masters is going to be really good (despite the hour and a half commute each way!) đŸ™‚

Our first lecture was about how to perform a professional literature review. Although not interesting, it was very very useful. I had no idea, but after two hours of a fairly easy lecture to listen to, I am well aware of how to do most of it, and considering we’ll soon be set on as an assignment I’m quite happy about my new-found knowledge!

We then had a 2 hour lunch break, which we were all complaining about because we had nothing to do (I’m sure when we’re sinking under mountains of reading we’ll be regretting our earlier grumbling). It was, however, a really good chance to get to know everybody better. I think I’m making quite good friends with a girl called Matilda from Sweden, and a girl called Beckie from Edinburgh/Liverpool; most of the friends I talk about on here will be girls because of the 20 of us, there are only 3 guys!

In the afternoon we had a ‘health and society’ lecture, although it was just an introduction. We were shown some past essay questions and had to grade them; we all thought the worst essay was the one which was actually the best, so I don’t hold out much hope for high grades in my first few assessments!

So, all in all, a good first day!

Maybe I won’t regret this after all…

An optimistic Gingernut xx
