I want to be happy.
I am happy, to be fair, but I want to keep it that way.
Positive psychology is a relatively new branch of psychology which is all about, you guessed it….positivity!
Positive psychology is full of awesome techniques for improving happiness, such as finding out what your strengths and virtues are (you can do this online at http://www.authentichappiness.sas.upenn.edu/Default.aspx).
My favourite technique is as effective as it is simple.
Basically, all you do is write down three good things that have happened to you at the end of every day!
For instance, yesterday mine could be:
1) I made progress on designing the task for my research project
2) I finished my first assignment of the semester
3) I watched the Oscars and really enjoyed them!
It really is that simple! I think it’s important to step back and think about your day at the end of it, to notice the small things which can make such a big difference.
Give it a go, and let me know what you think 🙂
